Jondachi and Fun Around Tena – Ecuador

Welcome to Tena

Tena – What a place. From getting my sandals fixed in a little shoe repair place to the Worm car and drinking in the La Arana Bar on the banks of the Rio Tena.

On the road to Tena from Bezea

It is also where we explored a couple of sections of the Rio Jondachi down on to the Rio Hollin. We did one run with Jon, Chris, Darin, and Shannamar and myself down the Middle/Lower on to the Hollin. This was a great way to spend 50km of paddling. So many boofs and moves to make. For an added bonus, Chris arranged the driver to bring in a pack of Rum in Coke in a can, chilled of course.

We returned for another run when the water was quite a bit higher with a group of paddlers during the Jondachi Festival.

Good group of paddlers at last years Jondachi Fest at the confluence of the Jondachi and Hollin

The boofs and waterfalls during this run were amazing. So much water coming into the river. The Rio Hollin had huge features and some sick rapids. Chris even rolled in one of them …. lol!!
